From: Developing Your Destiny - Episode 1
I find it very difficult to listen to Graham without pen/paper. The Holy Spirit highlights so many ideas/quotes for me that I need to write them down and revisit them again and again. I often have difficulty recalling [what I have heard].
I'm so glad you're taking the time to revisit the truth you're hearing and think more about it! That's part of the unpacking process for Truth.
For me, Graham's teaching is like one of those little sponge animals we played with as kids that came in a capsule. You added water until it expanded into a recognizable shape. Distilled truth that has be relationally crafted, refined and experienced has many layers to it.
It's not a failure on the part of the listener when we don't get it the first time through. We keep soaking in the Living Water of the truth we're hearing and over time, it expands and takes shape for how God is developing that truth in our lives. Once we learn how to sort His priorities, then we don't try to process our new revelations all at once, but a few (or even one) at a time.
Actually, I love that teaching at this level requires dependency on the Holy Spirit. That's what wisdom should require. He tailors it individually for our lives when we enter into that process.
As Graham has said many times, God doesn't measure time in our development - He measures growth. So the process you're engaging in will accelerate you. (And BTW - I have a fabulous memory for a lot of things, but not numbers - so scripture references are a challenge for me too. No need to compare your capacity for that to others. We're each unique.)
