WHAT ARE “EVIDENCES OF TRANSFORMATION?”
Your stories of personal transformation are the true mile markers on your journey… and it’s how we assess our growth in our Brilliant Community. We don’t hand out Certificates of Completion or give grades - because that’s not how God measures our development.
Growing up into the full image of Christ is not evaluated by the number of books you’ve read, courses completed or teachings you’ve heard. It is in identifying real-life situations in which you are:
+ PERCEIVING God, yourself and your circumstances more like He does
+ THINKING more with the mind of Christ
+ Using the same LANGUAGE God does when He talks about you, other people and your life circumstances.
+ Choosing ACTIONS and responses that reflect your true identity as a new creation in Christ.
The stories of your life are your Evidences of Transformation - the tangible confirmation that you are actually becoming more like the One you’ve been beholding. They are a place to stop and consider with the Holy Spirit, “In what ways am I becoming more like Christ?”
Evidences of Transformation are not a one-time experience, but a continuing conversation with God, and with any group of friends that you are sharing this journey with.
We encourage you to write our your Evidences of Transformation when you have finished a Brilliant TV series and then revisit them over time to continue to record your growth.
Many members keep a notebook for each Evidences of Transformation they create. These are an excellent way to encourage yourself in the Lord. While you may not yet be where you desire to be… you’ll discover that you’re not where you used to be in your perceptions, mindsets, language and actions either!
EVIDENCES OF TRANSFORMATION:
This is a basic template for your Evidences of Transformation that you may use and adapt as you wish:
PERCEPTIONS - How we perceive God, ourselves and our life situations:
How are you seeing life differently because of the teachings you’ve heard?
“In this type of situation (write about your specific scenario), I used to see it as ____________.
Now, when this occurs, I perceive it as _______________.”
Briefly write about a real-life situation in which you could see this transformation:
MINDSETS - How we think about God, ourselves and the world around us:
Because you are now seeing differently… what new thoughts are you having because of that?
What was one old man mindset you realized was no longer truth?
What more brilliant thoughts are you now having instead?
Write a few sentences about a real-life situation in which you could see this transformation:
LANGUAGE - How we speak about God, ourselves and others:
Briefly describe a difficult or challenging situation you’ve experienced during the time you’ve been listening to this series on BTV.
How would you have spoken about it before? What are any negative words and phrases you would have used?
What language are you now using instead?
Share a real-world experience where you consciously chose different language?
ACTIONS - Choosing to behave in a way that reflects your new perceptions and thinking:
What is an old man reaction that you are happy to lay aside?
What is the new man response to God that you’re discovering instead?
Write a few sentences about a real-life situation in which you did that!
