We are looking at one of my favorite questions: what does it mean to dream with God? I’m not talking about dreams of the night or day dreams; I’m referring to dreaming in the context of hope and imagination, where you have a glorious expectation of something wonderful occurring because of who God is.
During this session, we'll be exploring:
+ Why God WANTS you to have brilliant dreams about life with Him;
+ How God MOVES you out of the realm of the practical and into the territory of creativity.
+ How you get to ASK God what He is dreaming about you;
+ Why dreaming with God puts us in a place of JOYFUL dependency;
+ And a powerful ACTIVATION to get you DREAMING with God!
Key Truths…
+ We don’t initiate our dreams with God, He does!
+ He has passionate hopes and dreams about who you are and are becoming in Christ.
+ God’s dreams about you are not random or general; they are very specific in who He sees you becoming in your character and destiny.
+ Your dreams with God will always create enlargement as we practice engagement with His creativity.
+ The dreams He has for you will always be bigger than you are.
+ Dreaming with God requires childlike wonder.
+ Being childlike involves having simple faith, trust, and a way of seeing things that goes beyond logic.
+ Dreaming leads to doing and becoming.
Key Scriptures…
+ 1 John 4:19: We love Him because He first loved us.
+ Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you, Declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
+ Matthew 18:3: Unless you become like children, you won’t be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Activation…
Here are some ways you can activate your dreaming with God:
+ Set aside time every day to worship and thank God for the dreams He has for you.
+ Ask Him to show them to you. Thank Him for His creative DNA in you that will recognize them.
+ Come with a sense of joyful expectation.
+ Remember if Christ is in you then these things are already present in Him in you!
+ If you don’t see them initially, express your confidence because of Jesus in you, that you will see them eventually.
+ Enjoy the process of asking, and continuing to ask.
Once you get a sense of what God is dreaming, here’s how you can partner with Him:
+ Make a list of the character attributes and skills required for that dream to become a reality.
+ Assess that gap between where you are now and what the future you will require.
+ Begin to develop a plan of development with the Holy Spirit.
As you watch this session, I hope you feel unbound and unfettered from logical rational ways of dreaming with God. Remember, He initiates the process of dreaming and then partners with us in the procedure of their fulfillment. We get to enjoy living as a much-loved child, seeing the world through the lens of wonder and expectation.
Here's to having dreams and partnering with the process of seeing them come true.
Enjoy the process and the journey!
